The latest addition to the already stellar field that will toe the starting line this Sunday, March 1st at the USA Track & Field National 50 Kilometer Championship Run at Heckscher State Park is two time past winner of this event Michael Wardian of Arlington, Virginia.
Wardian has been named the USATF Ultrarunner of the year four different times during his career, and was the highest American finisher ever in the “Marathon Des Sables” 150 Mile Stage Race accross the Sahara Desert. He also holds the 50 Kilometer World Record of 2:59:49 on a treadmill.
His accomplishments so far in 2020 include finishing first overall in the Redeye 50 Kilometer Run in Lorton, Virginia on New Year’s Day and finishing first overall in the Ecotrail Alula 83 Kilometer Run in Saudi Arabia on February 8th.
Sunday’s 50 Kilometer Run will start promptly at 8:30 AM at Field #4 at Heckscher State Park
